The theme of KAPOW plays on the association of impact, reflecting their aim to make a mark on industry through forward-thinking, creative, design solutions. Colour plays a major part in every design practice and becomes a dominant theme within the show’s branding. The initial impact of the KAPOW identity is of similar stature to the name itself, the bold type centred resolution is instantly engaging to both a creative audience and general public. The tactile finish to the posters creates intimate pastels that both reinforce the creativity of the institution and add aesthetic appeal that works across its extensive collateral.
University of Bedfordshire: Build (2016)
Designed by Guildford Street Press the University of Bedfordshire's 2016 degree show. The concept works with interlocking component that can be symbols of the creative process. What is particularly effective within the identity is its translation from print to web, In print the vibrant yellow stock complemented by the silver accents of the illustrations create an immersive invitation while in web form the moving pieces form abstract links and create a consistency within the user experience. The result is a campaign thats synergy allows a successful application to fully engage the audience with the show.
Central Saint Martins: 2015
A rejected concept for the 2015 CSM degree show was through provokingly engaging utilising the prestigious reputation of the institution at the forefront of the concept. This played on the CSM name to create a typographic identity, Utilising words that distilled from the essence of the university, the branding concept successfully encapsulates the spirit of the final degree show. I was particularly engages with the opportunity for extending this concept due to its versatility. The proposal demonstrates ways in which this could be applied to wayfindinig and poster treatments but I feel there is opportunities to push this further and more engagingly using the C S M characters to inform the word choices within the identity as this is what the university is commonly referred to as.
