Brief 8: Ceramic Processes - Inspiration

Due to the range of trial and error and personal input within my exploration of ceramic processes I identified a post modern aesthetic would be most appropriate to document this through an aesthetic direction. This feels most appropriate to the context of the research process and will connote a more individual design process as opposed to a rigid modernist route, This is less concerned with the legibility and more about he expression within the resolution. Having not worked in a significantly postmodern style before I took inspiration from a range of secondary sources analysing a range of poster designs to inspire a range of initial ideas.

Collating a range of inspiration begins to generate a range of initial ideas in my head. Exploring the post modern style identifies new areas of research that is not within my typical design process as it explores new aesthetic styles. I like the expression within the use of type through the use of repetition, distressing type and using paths to create more expressive visual compositions. The use of colour is dramatically used within the sample of posters analyse, often utilising a minimal colour scheme with a single accent colour or opting for a bold contrasting colour palette that instantly catches the eye.  This influences allow my design process to seamlessly transition into a range of initial ideas.
