Having undertaken a holistically primary research investigation into ceramic processed, the next stage within the brief is to establish how to produce a relevant output that relates the project back to my current practice. Creating a Graphic response to the brief is included in the brief to be purposely vague, this is so to not create any pre-conceptions and develop an appropriate response from the research, as this was undertaken with no prior knowledge I wanted to carry this sense on 'blind research' through to the practical element of the brief.
I initially thought about producing a publication that documents this research process however due to the practical context of the research I was unable to document this holistically as my hands were often caked in clay and didn't have opportunity to take photo's, the images I did manage to capture weren't good enough to be produced into a publication and would have looked very amateur due to the messy environment of the workshop. Exploring other options I considered illustrating a blueprint style infographic of each process however each process is vastly different and I would find it difficult to find an aesthetic style that for example is suitable to the freeformed process of using the potters wheel yet is also appropriate to the slip casting which is very technical and accurate.
Consulting student and tutor feedback it is established a poster series documenting my personal research process would be the most appropriate way to approach a graphic output, Due to this being my first time using many of the techniques I do not feel qualified to create a set of instructions/ document the process as my experience was alot of trial and error, therefore the poster series should reflect my experiences. This creates a personal dialogue however doesn't establish a defined audience / purpose however due to the subjectivity of the brief this isn't necessarily a negative. The brief is a personal research project therefore the output should be a personal reflection of this.
