Route 3 is based upon an abstract interpretation of communication and explores the tracks lyrics and meaning more holistically than the other two design directions. The single line drawing is used to represent the the difficult in articulating the thoughts of the head and heart and directly links to the meaning embedded within the tracks lyrics.
Experimenting with a range of line drawings allowed a range of forms to develop.
Identifying this as the most successful illustration as the line flows clearly from the heart to the head and into the mouth, this demonstrates the process of feeling, processing these feelings and articulating them and is appropriately reflective of the songs lyrics.
Implementing the figure into a final composition I chose to keep a relatively minimal aesthetic and not apply background textures etc. I chose a vibrant colour palette to reflect the bold impact of the track and reflect the soulful genre of Sharon and the Dap Kings. The development is appropriate and reflective of the tracks themes and explores this meaning in a creating contemporary design aesthetic.
