Brief 7: Up Yer Sleeve - Initial Ideas

Route 1:

Route 1 is themed around a literal interpretation of the the tracks name, taking the 100 days 100night literally, this is build up over a long running project that takes 100 images of the sky over 100 days / nights, these are the colours watched and build up into a grid for the final resolution. This creates an bract reference to the passage of time and contextually links to the chosen track. unfortunately  this direction is unfeasible within the timescale of the brief however contextually appropriate as submissions are required by the 5th May therefore unobtainable to achieve.

Route 2:

Route 2 is based on the use of gradients this creatively symbolises two people coming together and the process this takes, furthermore this can also symbolise the point when day meets night re-referencing the sky utilised within route one. Exploring how this could work effectively within an exhibition format, I considered the use of dip dyeing fabric to represent this, this would produce a tactile resolution that is unpredictable and spontaneous conceptually linking to the themes of the track.

Route 3:

Route 3 presents an abstract interpretation of communication and explores the tracks lyrics and meaning more holistically than the other two design directions. The use of abstract imagery informed by aesthetic research including inspiration from picasso depicts the conflict between the head and heart and the communication of this plays to the lyrics of the song in a boldly abstract interpretation, this will appeal to the target audience of the exhibition and represent the track appropriately.
